Beware of the belly....

It is BIG....

REALLY BIG... it does not look as big in that picture, but trust me it is BIG! If you don't believe me then click on the picture and you'll see what I mean! B I G B E L L Y!

So, why am I holding up 9 fingers?

* are there 9 babies in my tummy? answer: NO
* do I have 9 lives? answer: NO
* do I have only 9 more days to carry around these little munchkins? answer: sadly, NO

The real reason behind me holding up those fingers is that I have over NINE POUNDS of baby in my belly.

NINE.

9

3+3+3= 9

Actually, it's closer to 10 because one baby is 4 lbs. 8 oz and the other baby is 4 lbs. 14 oz. The latter being much much closer to five lbs.

And.... I have about 4-5 weeks to endure.

ENDURE. That is the only word I can think of at this point to describe what it's like. I believe Revelation talks about the patient endurance of the saints.... that's my prayer. Patient endurance.

On another note, I must say that I was filled with gratitude today that I've only had to endure some minor aches and pains. Really they are minor compared to what some twin carrying mamas have to endure. No swelling here. No preclampsia. No gestational diabetes. No complications to speak of.

So what if I walk like I'm eighty years old for awhile longer.
And I can live with the inability to bend at all from my neck down (or else risk falling face first on the ground).
Heartburn smartburn. That's what Zantac is for, right?
So what if none of my clothes are really fitting me anymore... who needs to go out in public?

All my little aches and pains pale in comparison to what others are going through. I am indeed grateful for the gift of being able to carry these little boys around and give them a warm and cozy place to grow and snuggle.

However, they will be getting the boot and expecting to arrive in the next 4-5 weeks. I'm reminding them daily of that fact. I'm gearing up for their arrival. I'm no where near ready or prepared or have the necessary preparations even in place (gosh I procrastinate so much), but I'm ready to meet these two little boys and to not have their cute little parts stuck in my ribs and pelvis anymore. I know once they arrive I'll miss those feelings in my tummy, but right now... I'm getting ready to have them show themselves soon!

ps. Mike's second installment on the intro to Lent is up.... this time, fasting.

We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.

Oh my goodness do you look adorable! Love your twin belly! I can absolutely relate to the end of twin pregnancy when it just hurts having both boys in there . There's no where for them to go and it's just plain hard all around to carry them. 9lbs of baby is fabulous! When my guys were born, I had carried almost 15lbs of baby...the bigger they are, the better they'll do after birth. I know it's hard, but keep 'em in there a little longer, my dear. You'll be amazed at how big and strong they are when they're born. I hope the next 4-5 weeks are easy for you. Please rest as often as you can. Can't wait to meet your little boys!

YOu really do look great. The belly isn't as big as I would imagine for carrying two little ones. Glad to hear they're healthy and getting big (but not too big!). Five weeks max until they arrive- pretty exciting! Longest five weeks of your life of course - or the fastest, depending on how prepared you feel.

Hey!! I just came by to look for pictures of the Barbie cake and while I was here, I thought of something....you could stick a Barbie on your belly, frost it and your belly, and it would look just like a Barbie cake!!

Seriously, though....two things 1) you look so fabulous! You're absolutely glowing for two! and 2) I can't wait to see pictures of the Barbie cake! How "wowed" was your niece??!!
