This Christmas 2011 ~ 12.26.11

I may have mentioned that life is a bit crazy over here. We move in 3 weeks. The fact and reality of this just hit me a few days ago. I refused to let the move affect my Christmas too much. After all, it was to be our LAST Christmas in this wonderful little home of ours!

I relied heavily upon whatever the kids brought home or what arrived in my mailbox to decorate. I pulled out a few of my favorite ornaments (on Christmas Eve) to put on the tree that was already decorated heavily in handmade ornaments (yay for me and letting the kids decorate the tree!). I only made two essential Christmas cookies and tried one new recipe!

what cookies are essential here? chocolate chip and my almond biscotti!

The Friday before Christmas the kids were off of school and I decided it was a stay home, make a list and check off as much as I possibily could- kinda day.

Happy to say that the majority of those items were checked off by Saturday morning! We did not get to the nutter butter Santas this year.... maybe next Christmas.

I hired a team of helpers and got to work on what we absolutely needed to do...

 unwrapping Rolos for Reindeer noses....

crumbling cake to make cake bites.... (yes, essential, b/c the twins had a cookie exchange at school. meaning, make 6 doz of something edible! cake bites it was!)

distract children, while I tend to my list, with their Christmas ornaments... they lined them up for battle, of course (and broke a few in the process...)

vacuum! everyone needs to get that done and it wasn't even on my list!

With the list taken care of, we were all set to celebrate Christmas....

Christmas morning frenzy began after the first gift of Christmas arrived.... baby Jesus was laid in his manger!

enjoying their new beanbag chairs and 3DS's (finally, Santa brought them a ds! LOL)

Christmas brunch with the Sunderman's....

Daddy setting up shop and taking all those tools out of the box for the littles...

A little Christmas day mindbender- playing Kanoodle!

Nonna got in on the action and enjoyed this little game, too!

Nonno loved his Root Deer and grandkids!

It was a splendid Christmas Day spent with many we love. We are indeed blessed to have each other and all those that love and support us. 2012 is bringing many exciting things along with it, but for now, I'll live in the present and enjoy each moment as it comes and try to not get too overwhelmed with packing craziness!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours... we'll be celebrating for the next 2 weeks! Christmas has JUST BEGUN! It is not over.... it begins on Christmas day and continues until January 8th. So keep Christmas and enjoy your celebrating.
